Paul Valerence was awarded the title of “Polar Bear” for being over 2 meters tall and weighing 136 kg, according to the New York Daily News.
On 10 December 2020, Valerence wrote on social media, “I’ve been testing today for [for the coronavirus, and I’ve never been so hard in my life.”
A few days later, he wrote: “For me, I feel like contracting COVID-19 is like fighting a man who is good at punching your kidneys, and the opponents keep attacking.” Valerence’s condition then suddenly deteriorated and died in a drug-induced coma.
According to the introduction, Valerence, from Alaska, played football at San Jose State University and made his debut at the sixth UFC Championship in Casper, Wyoming in 1995.
He last participated in the competition in 1998.
