According to USA Today, on the afternoon of the 16th local time, NASA tested four RS-25 engines of its Artemis lunar landing rocket in Mississippi.
However, less than two minutes later, the test was automatically suspended due to technical failure.
According to the report, the test was supposed to last eight minutes, but it only ran for less than two minutes.
Boeing, the main contractor for the plan, has previously said that the test will need to run for at least 250 seconds (more than four minutes) so that the team can collect enough data.
However, NASA said that the RS-25 engine has been upgraded and renovated since the last mission.
“Aramis” is a NASA lunar landing program: the plan will send astronauts to the moon in 2024 in three steps.
The whole mission will cost $28 billion, of which $16 billion will be used to develop the lunar module.
