The Ministry of Health of Belarus announced on January 16 that the country is beginning to vaccinate medical staff in high-risk areas against the novel coronavirus.
The Information Department of the Ministry of Health of Belarus said on social media that on the same day, the Ministry of Health obtained a batch of Russian-made “Sputnik-V” coronavirus vaccines for medical staff in high-risk areas.
The vaccine will be distributed to the capital Minsk and six cantons, including Brest and Gomel Oblasts.
In addition, medical personnel of state agencies will receive 800 doses of vaccine. It is reported that the White Ministry of Health has formulated relevant plans for the cold chain transportation of vaccines.
In 2020, Belarus signed an initial contract to order 170,000 doses of Russian “Sputnik-V” coronavirus vaccine.
The Ministry of Health of Belarus said that in the future, the production capacity of the vaccine in Belarus will be able to meet the domestic needs of the country.
