In June 2017, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and other countries announced that Qatar would sever diplomatic relations with Qatar and impose sanctions and blockades on Qatar, including the closure of its airspace, on the grounds of “supporting terrorism” and “damaging regional security”.
