Dissatisfied with the treatment during prison, the murderer of the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013 sued the federal government of the United States.
The Associated Press reported on the 7th that Djohar Tsarnaev, 27, wrote a complaint on the 4th, claiming that he had been treated “illegally, unjustified and discriminatory” while serving his sentence in Florence Federal Rehabilitation Prison, Colorado.
Djohar Tsarnaev gave an example that the white baseball caps and headscarves bought in the prison commissary were confiscated and bathing was restricted only three times a week.
He said that this aggravated his “mental and physical weakness”.
Court records show that the lawsuit has been taken over by a judge.
The judge said on the 5th that the litigation materials were incomplete and did not pay $402 in litigation fees.
Djohar Tsarnaev and his brother Tameran Tsarnaev detonated an explosive device placed near the Boston Marathon finish line on April 15, 2013, killing three people and injuring more than 260.
Tameran Tsarnaev died in an exchange of fire with law enforcement officers on the way to escape a few days later, and Djohar Tsarnaev was sentenced to death after his arrest.
At the end of July last year, a federal appeals court overturned Djohar Tsarnaev’s death sentence, but upheld most of his convictions.
He still faces life imprisonment.
The federal government has appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court.
