The report said that the police believed that these religious extremists were planning an attack on New Year’s Eve, but the report did not elaborate.
The Anadolu News Agency quoted a statement from the Turkish Ministry of the Interior that the suspects were arrested in 33 cities and provinces between 20 and 31 December 2020.

The report also said that the Turkish immigration department arrested 69 foreign citizens who were “connected with the conflict zone”.
