Tirana, December 10 Albanian Interior Minister Leshai announced his resignation on the 10th after the police shot a young man who violated the coronavirus curfew.
Prime Minister Rama said in a televised speech on the same day that he had accepted the resignation submitted by Leshai. Rama apologized to the parents of the 25-year-old young man Rasha who was shot. He said that the behavior of the police involved was “unexplained and unjustifiable” and the Afghan judiciary would decide whether he was guilty.
Afghan police said that in the early morning of the 8th, Rasha violated the curfew imposed by the government, did not obey the police’s orders and fled. A policeman shot Rasha and unfortunately killed him. After the incident, the police involved were arrested, and the police have begun to investigate the incident.
On the evening of the 9th and 10th, hundreds of people held protests in front of government agencies such as the Afghan Ministry of the Interior and the Prime Minister’s Office, demanding the resignation of Leshai, despite the epidemic prevention measures imposed by the Afghan government, which prohibits gathering more than 10 people.
