According to a report by National Public Radio on December 7th, a 23-year-old African-American man in Ohio was shot dead by the police on December 4th local time.
Local police said that the shooting was because the African-American man was “wielding a pistol” at that time, which threatened the safety of the police officers at the scene.
But the victim’s family questioned this, because the autopsy report showed that the police shot from the victim’s back, and the so-called “pistol” was just a sandwich.
In response, some American human rights figures pointed out that the U.S. police must abandon this “fire first, warning later” law enforcement method and demand justice for the African-American man.
Incidents of people of African descent who encounter violent law enforcement by the police have occurred repeatedly in the United States. According to U.S. media statistics, this year alone
at least 16 African-Americans were shot and killed by the police in the process of law enforcement, and these people were shot without any offensive weapons.
