Floods in southern Thailand have killed 13 people. Prayut went to the disaster area to deploy disaster relief
China News Agency, Bangkok, December 5 (Reporter Wang Guoan) Thailand’s disaster prevention and mitigation department said on the 5th that the recent floods in southern Thailand caused by heavy rains have caused more than 380,000 families in 98 counties in 11 provinces to be affected. The number of victims rose to 13.
Since November 25, the southern area of Thailand has been hit by continuous heavy rains, causing flooding in the area. Large tracts of farmland and many roads and houses have been flooded, and many sections of road and railway traffic have been blocked.
On December 3, 2020 local time, in Surat Thani, a port city in southern Thailand, the government of the affected area is actively organizing flood relief.
On the same day, Thai Prime Minister Prayut took a plane to Nakhon Si Thammarat, which was the worst hit, to inspect the disaster, deploy flood relief work, and visit the people injured in the flood and the families of the victims.
At present, Thailand’s disaster prevention and mitigation department is working with the governments and military of the disaster-stricken areas to fight against the disaster, assist the people affected by the disaster, and provide medical and emergency supplies to the disaster areas.
A spokesman for the Thai military said that after learning of the serious disaster in Nakhon Si Thammarat, King Vajiralongkorn specially donated 10,000 sets of disaster relief kits to help the victims.
