December 5 According to the Greek China-Greek Times, the Greek Minister of Digital Governance, Kyriacos Pielacakis, issued a statement saying that a new identity card number system will replace the current parallel identity card number, social security number and tax number, so as to achieve the communication of this number system in the public service. Use and realize one person one.
At present, the identity number, social security number and tax number are parallel in the identity number system used in Greece, which causes a lot of trouble. Because the three sets of numbers belong to different public services, there are sometimes problems such as duplicate numbers, untimely cancellations and inability to access data across departments.
In the plan, the Ministry of Digital Governance said that through the consolidation of the citizenship numbering system, the establishment of a natural person-based information database, simplify administrative procedures, achieve inter-departmental data sharing, and prevent tax evasion and other illegal acts.
In describing the new ID numbering system, Pierakakis reportedly said that individuals would hold documents under the system similar to driver’s licenses, including color photos, 12-digit codes, names, dates of birth and places of birth.
After the system is put into use, citizens can use the new ID number to complete various transactions and administrative procedures. Among them, the new identity code will not be changed or deactivated with the death of a natural person, but will be declared by the public sector after the death of the natural person. The system is expected to be ready in 2022.
According to the report, at this stage, the problematic tax number will be directly used as the new identity number of natural persons. The General Secretariat of the Public Information Management System is sorting out the tax numbers and updating the interference data such as duplicate value-added tax numbers and police ID numbers. The updated data will be displayed in the public information management system.
