Kenya’s National reported on December 4 that Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta delivered a speech at the Kenyan local government’s COVID-19 socio-economic reconstruction and recovery strategy conference on the same day, unnamedly warning some Western countries not to interfere in Kenya’s affairs and respect Kenya and Kenny.
In her speech, Kenyatta thanked Kenya’s development partners, noting in particular the United Nations and other countries that the United Nations and other countries have always been close partners of Kenya and have played an important role in achieving Kenya’s peacebuilding agenda.
Then Kenyatta turned his words and shouted anonymously to some Western countries: “Although Kenya appreciates your support and looks forward to your cooperation, you must always understand that Kenya’s owners are 50 million Kenyan people.
Please don’t interfere in Kenya’s affairs and don’t tell us or try to show us what we should go. We know the way forward. We invite you to join us in support, but don’t interfere with us, because we don’t allow you to indicate which direction and where we go depends on the Kenyan people. Please respect us in order to win our respect.”
Kenyatta added that every country has problems, and even those countries have their own problems. They should not be here to guide Kenya on how to solve Kenya’s problems.
