According to several South African media reports, in response to the second spread of the pandemic in some parts of the country, the South African National Coronavirus Command Committee (NCCC) agreed on December 1st local time to implement strict regional management in high-risk areas. The specific measures are as follows:
1. Curfew from 10 pm to 4 am the next day;
2. The time limit for the sale of alcoholic beverages is 4 days a week;
3. The bar restaurant must be closed at 9 pm;
4. The maximum number of indoor gatherings for any activity (including religion) is 100, and the maximum outdoor gathering is 250.
In South Africa, about 1,000 new cases of Coronavirus were confirmed every day in early November, and the number began to surge. Beginning on November 25, there were more than 3,000 new cases per day in South Africa, and it even climbed to 4,000 on December 2.
At present, the country’s second rebound of the pandemic is mainly concentrated in Cape Town, the Garden Route and Mandela Bay. However, the South African government and relevant experts are currently discussing which areas are high-risk areas.
