January 1 According to a report quoted by the European Union News Agency by the European Network, on the evening of December 31, 2020, there were 932 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Greece.

The Greek Ministry of Civil Protection announced that from that day onwards, a “enhanced” blockade of Kalino Island will be imposed.

On the evening of December 31 local time, statistics from the Greek Ministry of Health showed that 932 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 were reported in Greece, with a total of 138,850 confirmed cases.

The number of deaths due to COVID-19 increased by 50 in 24 hours, with a cumulative death toll of 4,838.

According to reports, the Greek Ministry of Civil Protection announced that a “enhanced” blockade of Kalino Island will be implemented from the 31st, similar to those being implemented in Aspropigos, Elefsina, and Kozani, the northern part of Greece.

The report said that these measures include curfew from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day; the cancellation of the “book-pick-up” measures for retail stores; the suspension of bookstores, barbershops, beauty salons and outdoor fairs; and the suspension of all religious ceremonies except funerals for seven days, with the restriction of up to 10 people.

Wait. Greek Health Minister Kikilias urged people to abide by health measures during the New Year to control post-holiday coronavirus case data.

According to the latest government regulations, there will be no limit on the number of taxi passengers on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Previously, according to Greece’s national blockade measures, taxis can only carry one passenger except drivers.

During the New Year’s holiday, a curfew will be imposed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day, and the police will strengthen inspections after 10 p.m., and offenders will be fined 300 euros.

The Greek authorities will deploy about 10,000 police officers to guard the blocks for inspection. Greek police spokesman Kronopoulos called on people to control themselves when celebrating the festival.

The report pointed out that the measure of allowing up to nine people from two families to meet during the New Year will be maintained, and if the police receive complaints, they will have the right to enter the house for inspection in the presence of the prosecutor.

If the violation is confirmed, the owner will be fined 3,000 euros, and everyone present will be fined 300 euros.
