According to a Russian media report on the 20th, experts from the Russian Center for Vector Virology and Biotechnology confirmed that seven cases of H5N8 avian influenza have been found in Russia.

Anna Popova, director of the Consumer Protection and Public Welfare Supervision Bureau of the Russian Federation, also confirmed the news in an interview with Russian Channel 24.

It is reported that bird flu broke out in a poultry farm in southern Russia last December, and seven staff members of the farm were diagnosed with infection.

At present, experts have isolated the genetic material of the virus from patients.

Russia said that they had taken all measures to prevent people and animals from contracting the disease in a short time, and the spread of avian influenza was curbed.

Experts say that there have been no human-to-human transmission cases of avian influenza found in Russia so far.

However, the possibility of human-to-human transmission after future virus mutation is not ruled out.
