An Indonesian civil airliner crashed on the 9th, killing all 62 people on board, including 10 children.

On the 22nd, an Indonesian warship carried the families of the victims to the sea of the passenger plane crash.

Petals and wreaths were thrown into the sea to mourn the lost relatives and friends.

The crashed passenger plane is a Boeing 737-500 aircraft of Indonesia’s Sanfoqi Airlines.

On the afternoon of the 9th, the plane flew from Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, to Kundian, the capital of West Kalimantan Province.

After taking off, it climbed to an altitude of more than 3,000 meters and crashed into the sea near Laki Island, about 20 kilometers from Jakarta International Airport.

All 50 passengers and 12 crew members on board are Indonesian.

The search for the remains of the victims ended on the 21st.

Dozens of relatives and friends of the victims participated in the maritime memorial service organized by the Indonesian government.

They stood on the deck of the ship, unable to hide their sadness, praying and throwing petals on the sea to express their sorrow.

“When I spill the petals into the ocean, my sister’s face comes to mind,” says Herry Purnomo.

His sister and brother-in-law died in the air crash.

Betty Saprianti lost five relatives.

She told the media reporter that her family was afraid of too much pain and did not participate in the memorial service.

Four of their lost relatives have been confirmed dead, and now they only hope that the fifth, Aunt Betty, will be confirmed to be killed as soon as possible.

The wreckage of the passenger plane is located about 23 meters underwater.

The Indonesian government organized divers to salvage the bodies and personal belongings of the victims, thus identifying the dead.

The crashed passenger plane has been in service for nearly 27 years, and the flight was grounded for about nine months due to the coronavirus epidemic in 2020.

Search and rescue personnel have found the “black box”, that is, flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder.

However, the cockpit voice recorder recovered is incomplete, and the search and salvage of key components of its data storage will continue.

These two recorders play a key role in analyzing and judging the cause of the passenger plane crash.

Investigators are working with Boeing in the United States and engine manufacturer General Electric to read the “black box” information.

According to the information obtained so far, there is a problem with the automatic throttle valve of the engine, but investigators are not sure what role this problem plays in the plane crash.

The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration of the United States sent personnel to participate in the investigation of the cause of the crash.

Indonesian Transport Minister Budi Kariya Sumadi said on the 20th that each family of the victims will receive 1.25 billion rupiah (about 89,000 US dollars) in compensation.
