January 16th – On the 16th, local time, the common test of Japanese university admission, known as the “Japanese College Entrance Examination”, began simultaneously in many parts of Japan.
In order to control the COVID-19 epidemic, all examination rooms have taken strict epidemic prevention measures, requiring candidates to wear masks throughout the process.\
According to a report by Japan’s current affairs news agency on the 16th, about 530,000 candidates have taken the examination this year, of which 85% are freshmen and 15% are previous students.
There are 681 examination rooms in Japan. While ensuring ventilation, candidates must wear masks, disinfect their fingers before the examination, and do not leave their seats at noon.
The test site is one of the test sites at Shinai Kitakō Gakuin University in Shinachi City, Hokkaido. Due to the local blizzard warning, the test center decided to postpone the test and choose a date to implement the make-up test.
In addition, four candidates in Ibaraki Prefecture were late due to the late train. Three of them delayed the examination 63 minutes in other classrooms, and the other one abandoned the examination.
