on December 10, 2,898 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 were reported in Japan, setting the record for the

largest number of new cases in a single day since the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic, with a total of 172,342 confirmed cases.

Twelve new deaths were added, and the cumulative number of deaths reached 2,499.
