The Philippine Department of Health announced on December 15 that 2 cases of coronavirus mutant virus Omikron strain infection were found in the Philippines.

The Philippine Ministry of Health said that the two confirmed patients are tourists from abroad to the Philippines and are currently being quarantined. One patient is a Filipino citizen who returned to the Philippines from Japan on December 1. Another patient is a Nigerian citizen who flew from Nigeria to the Philippines on November 30.

At present, the Philippine Ministry of Health is tracking close contacts flying with confirmed cases.
