According to the UAE’s El Paía, in the early morning of January 19, local time, a serious traffic accident occurred in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, in a series of 19 cars.
The accident has resulted in one death and eight injuries.
Abu Dhabi police said the cause of the accident was low visibility on the highway due to foggy weather that day.
During the morning rush hour, the vehicles involved in the accident, including heavy trucks, buses and sedans, did not maintain a safe distance, resulting in a series of collisions of 19 vehicles.
At present, the police have notified the deceased as an Asian driver, but did not specifically disclose the nationality and other injuries.
Earlier that day, heavy foggy weather appeared throughout the United Arab Emirates.
The UAE Meteorological Department issued a red warning saying that visibility would drop to less than 1,000 meters, and the local police also issued a warning to reduce the speed of all highway motor vehicles to 80 kilometers per hour.
In the past few days, the United Arab Emirates has been suffering from heavy fog.
Dubai’s Ministry of Transport issued a notice saying that at least 24 traffic accidents were dealt with on January 17 alone, most of which occurred within three hours after 6:30.
The authorities’ transportation department recently issued a warning to remind drivers to drive cautiously and keep driving distance.
