12 dead in fire in a warehouse in western India

New Delhi, November 4-A fire broke out on the 4th in a textile warehouse in Gujarat State in western India, killing 12 people and injuring many others.

According to Indian media reports on the 4th, a fire broke out in a textile warehouse in an industrial park in Ahmedabad

Gujarat at around 11:30 local time. Local residents heard the huge explosion and felt shocked, and then the warehouse caught fire.

The report quoted a senior police officer as saying that a chemical store next to the warehouse exploded and affected adjacent buildings. 

Twelve people have been killed and many others have been burned and are receiving treatment in the hospital.

After the fire broke out, firefighters and emergency personnel immediately went to the scene to

control the fire and rescued more than ten people from the rubble.

Indian Prime Minister Modi and Gujarat Chief Minister Rupani respectively issued statements on the same day to

express condolences to the victims and promised to provide assistance to the families of the victims.

Fire accidents in India occur from time to time, and a large part of them are caused by

ignoring fire safety regulations and randomly stacking flammable materials.
