10 people died in a ship capsize in Lake Victoria in Kenya

According to local media reports, on the evening of November 17, local time, a ship capsized in Lake Victoria near the shore of Hung Lake in western Kenya, killing at least 10 people.

It is said that there were at least 20 people on the boat, transporting corn and bananas, and 10 people were rescued by local fishermen after the boat capsized.

The head of the lakeside management department in the area, Elly Masinde, said that the ship capsized after strong winds and the rise in the water level of Lake Victoria caused by the high tide was also one of the reasons for the accident.

Local government officials said that the bodies of the victims are still being searched.

Lake Victoria is located at the junction of Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda and is the largest freshwater lake in Africa.

Ship capsize accidents have occurred frequently in recent years.
