Singapore’s Transport Minister Wang Yikang announced today (11th) that Singapore and Hong Kong will officially open a safe travel circle from the 22nd. After opening, there will be only one dedicated flight between Singapore and Hong Kong every day, and each trip can only carry up to 200 people. By the 7th of next month, it will increase to two flights a day.

The travel purpose and itinerary of passengers from the two places will not be restricted, but they must undergo polymerase chain reaction (PCR) swab testing 72 hours before departure. Passengers must also take special flights, and there can be no other transit passengers or passengers who are not part of the arrangement on the flight.

Passengers must pay for the test after entering Hong Kong and wait at the airport until the results are released. However, Hong Kong tourists entering Singapore do not need to be tested.

After the implementation of the plan, if Singapore or Hong Kong has more than 5 unrelated confirmed cases of coronary disease per day on average, both parties will suspend the safe travel circle plan until there are fewer than 5 cases per day on average. The two parties will also check the number of flights and passenger restrictions one month after the plan is implemented.
